History

"Insurance Company EIG Re" EAD was established in 2000 under the name "Hanover COOP Bulgaria" RIC and was licensed with permission № 100 of 20.11.2000 of the National Council of Insurance at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, registered under company file No 1402/2000 of the Sofia City Court and is entered in the Commercial Register of the Registry Agency. The company operates on the Bulgarian market consistently with the names: "Hanover Coop Bulgaria" RIC, "HDI" RIC, "HDI Zastrahovane" AD.

At the beginning of 2015, a major share of the company (94%) was acquired by its current owner, Euroins Insurance Group AD, with the current majority owner, the German company Talanx International AG, withdrawing from the company.
Since 2016 the legal form of the company has been changed under the name "Insurance company EIG Re" EAD. After adjusting the value of the capital in 2016, the issue of new shares was effected in 2017 by the merger of "Euroins – Health Insurance" EAD into "EIG Re" EAD.

In 2017 "EIG Re" EAD continued to develop its business strategy on the insurance market in Bulgaria. The Company laid the foundations for its activity in the field of active reinsurance.
